Minnesota Free Market Institute President Pat Anderson was quoted in a Minnesota Public Radio story about how the state budget negotiations are affecting Minnesota cities. Some cities with large budget reserves (often referred to as “rainy day funds”) are declining to use them to meet their own budget shortfalls.
When a mayor or a city council member says the sky is going to fall — it’s wrong. It’s just ethically wrong,” Anderson said. “It didn’t happen in 2003. These mayors and city council members should be sitting down and saying, ‘How are we going to get through this?’
