A law known as “Complete Streets” was passed in 2010 that aims to re-design public streets to foster a “greener” approach to getting around (emphasizing pedestrian and bicycle traffic over cars, for example). Although there are some good ideas in there, the coalition that supported this effort reads like a who’s who at a Lake Calhoun fundraiser for Mayor Rybak so we are naturally suspicious-and worry that these efforts are a poor choice when city budgets are strained. We noticed that North Saint Paul was getting on the bandwagon-and that residents were worried about the results— and asked Bill Glahn to check it out for us. Here is what Bill had to say….
